On the morning of December 2, 2022, the Evidence-based Research Center for Education Assessment (ERCEA) members held an online academic seminar with Professor John Spiridakis, a foreign expert hired by Jiangsu University. Dr. John Spiridakis is a professor in the School of Education at St. John's University, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Education, and editor-in-chief of Social Science, a journal of the American Social Science Association. He also works as a consultant scholar for the accreditation bodies of the European Union and the Greek Ministry of Education, responsible for evaluating Greek universities and the education sector. Dr. Spiridakis is concerned about equity in education and wants to provide an effective education for all students and families. He has published nearly 100 papers in internationally renowned journals and has often delivered speeches at international and domestic academic conferences.

The theme of this seminar was “Application for Research Fund.” The seminar was moderated by Professor Huang Jinyan, Director of the Research Center, and was attended by center members Ms. Cui Kang, Ms. Li Zhang, and Dr. Hussain. The seminar was divided into four parts. First, Dr. Spiridakis introduced three research projects underway and emphasized the important role of international cooperation in research projects. Secondly, Dr. Spiridakis put forward suggestions on the application of scientific research projects based on his own experience. He believed that in the application process, we should focus on selecting fund types, scientific research problems, and the feasibility of research design. Afterward, the participants had exchanges and discussions. Members of our center introduced their research fields to Dr. Spiridakis and consulted and exchanged their doubts. At the end of the seminar, the participants discussed future cooperation in academic research, project application, and paper publication.

International cooperation is one of the outstanding features of modern scientific research. In the future, the team of the ERCEA will continue to carry out in-depth academic exchanges with foreign experts, actively carry out international cooperation, and enhance the international academic influence of the team.
