On December 31, 2021, the Evidence-based Research Center for Education Assessment held an education assessment professional development demonstration meeting and an international discussion on the development of the Research Center at the Sanjiang Building. The meeting was conducted online and offline. The experts included Professor Meng Lingqi from Qufu Normal University, Professor Allen Cheung from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Huang Jinyan, Director of the Evidence-based Research Center for Education Assessment, and three overseas postdocs under his supervision, Dr. Shahbaz Hussain, Dr. Saira Ashfaq, and Dr. Abdul Waheed. Professor Wang Jiajia, Dean of the School of Teacher Education, and Professor Chen Quan, Deputy Director of the Office of Student Affairs, were also invited to attend the meeting. Members of the Center, some young teachers, and some master students participated in the seminar.
During the meeting, Professor Huang explained three main themes: 1) Educational Assessment and Research Methodology as a new disciplinary orientation and graduate program; 2) The Evidence-based Research Center for Educational Assessment (ERCEA) as a service provider, a research organization, and a talent fostering base; 3) The First International Conference on Educational Assessment and Evidence-based Research. The collaboration platform presented different discussion questions on which argumentators offer their views.
Finally, the argumentation experts generally believe that educational assessment and research methods are in great demand worldwide as a new discipline and research direction, and talents with professional skills in educational assessment and research methods are needed in the job market. Professor Huang also proposed to hold the first International Conference on Evidence-Based Research in Education Assessment in June 2022, which will invite 6-8 keynote speakers and guest speakers from around the world.
After the meeting, Professor Huang expressed his thanks and New Year’s wishes to the experts and participants.
